Lambic is a Belgian beer-like substance with fruit involved somehow. I'll be sure to ask in Bruges. Anyhoo, I had one on the Thalys high-speed train between Paris & Bruges, so while I write this, I'm probably doing like 120 mph or more on the Swag Express (the train interior looks like the inside of a pimpmobile or something).
Lambic: La Morte Subite Kriek:
Served: 25 cl bottle into a plastic cup.
Appearance: Pale red, fizzy.
Scent: Vaguely fruity.
Taste: A bit like slightly sour kool-aid or fruit punch with a light malty aftertaste. It's light though.
Cost: €3.90 from the bar car on the Swag Express. Still cheaper than Paris, though not cheap.
Overall: This is the first lambic I've ever had, so I don't know what good or bad lambic is supposed to taste like. I enjoyed it, but it was a bit light on flavor. I'll give it a 5/10 with a 1.5 point penalty for cost. However, I will now point out something important, in the form of the following advertisement (La Morte Subite, if you are reading this, you now owe me a sixer of your product).
Hello American girls. Do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend or crush who loves craft beer? Do you wish you could go to his/her favorite beer bar but think IPAs taste like lawn clippings and stouts taste like bitterness and misery? Well, we here at La Morte Subite have the solution for you. Next time that special someone asks you to go along (or you invite them), try a La Morte Subite. As a kriek/lambic, it's got the exotic style that will make him think you know your stuff and are exotic, while delivering the light fruity flavor you crave, and the alcohol you want so you can get all giggly and flirty. So make it a La Morte Subite, because you two are headed for overtime...
Huh. Maybe if this whole engineering thing doesn't work out for me I can get a job in the advertising industry...
